Best of the week were Dee and Huddo, who both got 7. Well done to you two. Meanwhile, at the top of the ladder, we have what I reckon ids a first in the history of this competition… a 5-way tie for the lead! Between Helen, Annie, Matt, Huddo and Dee. Today was a great day for the Crows and one of the best of Matthew Nicks’ coaching career so far. Let’s hope they can follow up with a win over the Bulldogs in Ballarat next week. I would have been going to that game with Jeremy but he has gone up to Darwin to do a term of school there, living with his auntie. Actually, he’ll be up there for the Round 12 match between the Crows and Gold Coast, so keep an eye out for him on tv. He’ll probably be behind the goals with a Crows flag.

Port have stretched their winning streak to six. Margot’s Blues are on the slide and Collingwood are clear premiership favourites. If Collingwood make the grand final, which is looking likely at this stage, let’s hope they get the Colliwobbles in the last quarter and lose by a point.

Well done to Dee, Janet and Mum (Judith) for getting all 9 this week. Then, Annie, Helen, Hudson, Matt and Sal all got 8. It’s tight at the top of the ladder, that’s for sure. The Crows did pretty well I suppose but never really looked like winning. Port’s good run has continued, now 5 in a row, and Collingwood again ran over a side in the last quarter, albeit with the help of 24 free kicks to Sydney’s 10. How bad are West Coast! I know they’ve got a lot of injuries but their coach Adam Simpson leans on that and his side never shows any fight. They should sack him (just my opinion!)

Next week begins on Friday night with Richmond v Geelong.

Matt led the way this week with 7, followed by Annie, Hudson, Jeremy, Judith, Margot, Ray, Sal and Steph who all got 6. It’s now a big bottleneck at the top of the ladder. In the equal lead on 41 are Helen, Annie and Matt, just one back on 40 are Margot, Judith and Hudson, then on 39 are Dee, Steph and Sal (see the ‘Ladder’ page on this blog). It’s anyone’s race.

As for the Crows’ loss to Collingwood tonight, it’s too painful to talk about. Great win for Port on Friday night though. Margot’s Blues had a good win as well.

Next week begins on Friday night with Carlton v Brisbane at Docklands.

Great tipping this week by Dee, Helen, Hudson, Jermy and Judith who all 8, closely followed by Margot and Matt. But with her 9, Helen is now two clear in the lead (see the ‘Ladder’ page on this blog).

How good was that kick by Darcy Fogarty! Talk about commeth the moment commeth the man. That’s four in a row for the crows. This week’s game against Collingwood at Adelaide Oval on Sunday should be a beauty. Port are going well, too. So, both SA sides are going ok at the moment. We can’t say that about the WA sides, that’s for sure. Margot’s Blues have hit a bump in the road too but hopefully they can get the job done in the west against West Coast next week.

Next week begins on Friday night with St Kilda v Port @ Docklands.

Well, Gather Round was a big success, even despite the bad weather on Friday night and especially Saturday. How great for SA that it’s locked in for three more years. It will be interesting to see which grounds get used next year.

Next week there is no Thursday night game. The round starts with Freo v Bulldogs on Friday night.

Four people got 7 this week: Annie, Hudson, Matt and Steph. That puts Helen back in the lead by 1, with Margot, Annie and myself 1 back. Steph and Matt, who have been in good form lately, are 1 further back (see the ‘Ladder’ page on this blog).

That was a great win for the Crows. They avoided their usual post-Showdown let down. And what an incredible finish in the Port-Sydney game.

All games are in Adelaide next weekend, starting with the Crows v Carlton on Thursday night. I’m coming over to Adelaide on Tuesday night for a week (and bringing Jeremy) – looking forward to it.

What a win that was for the Crows, with great personal games for Riley Thilthorpe and Isaac Rankine, although Jordan Dawson won the medal. Let’s hope the Crows don’t have another post-showdown let down against Fremantle this weekend. Carlton held on again. They are off to a good start, and gee it looks like Ross Lyon seems to have got something into St Kilda.

Round 4 starts with another Thursday night game this week.

It was a good week for me, getting 7, then Margot and Sal both got 6. Margot is now in the lead on 12, with Helen, Sal and me 1 behind, and Matt 1 further back (for the full Ladder, see the ‘Ladder’ page on this blog).

The Crows again couldn’t kick straight and even though they fought back in the 3rd quarter, they never looked like winning. They seem low on belief at the moment. And Port had a shocker as well. Margot’s Blues finally held on ina tight game. That was a great win for them against Geelong. Collingwood are looking great but gee, this week (round 3) they will have their 3rd game in a row at the MCG, and they play there 15 or 16 times for the season – that’s not a bad advantage going into the finals.

This week begins with another Thursday night game.

Firstly, a big welcome to Sal, who joined the comp on Friday. So we have four rookies in the comp this year – Matt, Dee, Hudo and Sal!

Helen has jumped out of the blocks this week and leads with a 7 (which does not include the draw – in this comp, if it’s a draw, no one gets the tip). Helen is followed by Margot and Matt with 6. To check the ladder, go to the Ladder page.

What a disappointment the Crows were. It looked as if, when they went in at half time, four goals up, they were lavished with praise and then came out for the second half in cruise mode. The pressure is building on Matthew Nicks, that’s for sure. Meanwhile, Port were great. At half time of that game the free kick count was 21-6 to Brisbane! Unbelievable. I’m glad they came back and won.
