South finished the season with another great win, this time against West at Richmond by 21 points. West were hot favourites, having already locked in a spot in the 5, and South had not won at Richmond for years. But the Panthers were brilliant and could have won by more if not for a slight lapse in the last quarter. Under caretaker coach, Jack Maher, South won three of their last 4 games of the season. Maher might now even be half a chance to land the main job next year.
