It’s the mother and daughter duo at 25 Shore Grove Coburg North who are leading the way after round 1. Cathy is on 7 and Alice is on 6.
That was a devastating loss for the Crows. Also a painful loss for Port after they were in front. And what a great win for Gold Coast in the west tonight. Good to see Jason Horne-Francis (a South boy) have a good debut for North Melbourne too.

Well, that’s it for season 2021. At long last, I’ve had a win in this competition. It’s the first time since 1990 that I’ve won, and that includes a lot of years when there was only about 6 of us it in it. And I got over the line by a pretty fair margin – 12. I couldn’t believe how they kept falling my way this year. Not only 50-50 games but even upsets that I went for – most of them just kept falling my way. Half way through the year I went for Adelaide to beat Melbourne at Adelaide Oval – the game we won by a point after Tex put us in front. I guess that was a sign.
I got 136. Equal second on 124 were Janet and Helen. Equal third on 122 were Robert, Jeremy and Austin. Fourth on 121 was Judith (aka Mum). Fifth on 118 was Alice, in her first year in this comp. Sixth on 115 was Margot, also in her first year in the comp.
A special mention to Matt this week who tipped a draw in order to gain some ground (if you tip a draw correctly you get 4). He just picked the wrong game. He went for a draw in Geelong- Melbourne. The draw was Richmond-Hawthorn. Mind you, Geelong-Melbourne was nearly a draw too.
It was good for the Crows to finish with a win. Hopefully with all their young players they can move further up the ladder in 2022.
That’s it for now. Thanks for being in it everyone. It will be back against next year for those who want to be in it.
Austin led the way this week with 8. Well done Ausie. The only one he missed was Hawthorn over the Bulldogs – in what was, if the Tasmanian Premier sticks to his guns, the last AFL game to be played in Tasmania until the state gets a side of its own. A few people got 7: Annie, Helen, Judith, Ray, Robert and and me.
A special mention to Jeremy. Under the rules of our comp (see the Rules tab) you can tip a draw and if you get it right, you get 4. So in a desperate move to try to win, Jeremy tipped a draw in Port-Carlton. Gutsy move but Port won by 95 points.
So, I’m 10 in front with one week left but I’m not claiming victory yet. There’s that rules about tipping a draw, remember.
That was a tough week. Leading the way with 5 were Cathy, Jeremy, Judith, Margot and Ray, then a lot of us got 4. A special mention to Jeremy (future manager of this competition) for getting both of the first 2 upsets of the round: GWS over Geelong and Gold Coast over Carlton.
The Crows fought so hard against Port on Saturday night. A heart-breaking loss in the end. As for Tex, what can you say. It’s a tragedy for all involved.
Two weeks of tipping left for this year.
South had a good win against Centrals on Saturday to keep their double chance hopes alive. How good is Jason Horne, the likely number 1 draft pick. After South’s Round 4 match against Port at Noarlunga this year, Jeremy and I met him in the clubrooms – photo below.
This week Margot and I led the way with 7, with Margot’s famous old navy blues getting the job done against St Kilda on Friday night. Alice, Cathy, Helen, Janet, and Matt all got 6. I’m leading by 7 with three weeks left. I say nothing – still three weeks left.
Let’s hope the Crows can win at least 1 game from their last 3. This week is the showdown. The following week is Melbourne at the MCG. The final week is North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval.
It was another good week for me (Craig), getting 8. Irene got 7, then Austin, Janet, Jeremy and Ray all got 6. Shout-out to Ray for being the only person to get North Melbourne.
It’s me leading by 6 from Janet (can I hold on with 4 weeks left?), and now Jeremy has moved into third spot, one ahead of Helen, then Robert 2 further back.
That was a good win for the Crows. Rory Laird is a smokey for the Brownlow I reckon.
This week was a great week of footy with the 2nd draw of the year included. Alice and Austin both had great weeks with 7 tips correct and the top 4 getting very tight with Craig in the lead but with Janet Jeremy and Helen very close. 5 crucial weeks left were first spot could be anyone’s next week will be a great week thanks.
That was a very tough week for tipping. Well done to Irene. She got 5 and led the way this week. People who got were Jeremy, Ray, Austin and me. A shout out to Ausi who has been going well the last few weeks and has moved up a couple of spots on the ladder. At the top of the ladder it’s now me by 3 from Janet, with Robert, Simmo, Helen and Jeremy all tied 3 further back.
The less said about Friday night’s game against Essendon the better. Let’s hope they can put up a better show against West Coast on Sunday.
Well this week Alice got 7 for the second week in a row, and Austin, Helen and Judith (aka Mum) also got 7. Special mention to Austin for being the only one to go for GWS over Melbourne. And a shout out to Irene and Jeremy for getting Gold Coast over Richmond (another loss for Richmond!) A few people got 6: Annie, Cathy (now off the bottom of the ladder – well done Cathy), Janet, Margot (her Blues have now won 2 in a row, so is Teague safe for a while?), Robert, Simmo and me.
As for the ladder, it’s still me by 1 from Janet, then, Robert, Simmo and Helen all tied 4 further back.
Remember there’s another Thursday night game this week.
