With the exceptions of Geelong and Port, all the favourites got up. Ray was the stand-out this week. He tipped Geelong which means he finished with 8 out of 9. Next best with 7 were Annie, Austin, Helen, Janet, Judith, Peter and Rob. Those of us who thought there would be a few upsets this week, especially Jeremy and myself, paid for our adventurism. Still, it’s a long season and maybe we can claw our way back into contention. At the top of the ladder, it’s still Annie, Judith and Rob tied in the lead, 1 ahead of Peter and Ausi.
The Crows were good until about the 25-minute mark of the second quarter. After that, they looked out-of-legs and in the last quarter they were completely out-gunned and made some mistakes under pressure. Even the usually reliable Rory Laird made a few costly errors. Anyway, it was a great win for Port, which no one tipped, and it was another great Gather Round overall for South Australia. Will we keep it again next year? We’ll find out soon enough.

The Ladder after Round 5…
